JOB PURPOSE ​
The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) has an opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow position in Big Data Mining. Selected candidate(s) will collaborate with the members of research groups on research in a wide range of topics in the foundations and applications of Big Data, such as the development of the underlying theory, tools and techniques necessary to model, extract meaning from, and analyze Big Data for a broad range of applications.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
1. Conduct independent research and development of interdisciplinary projects using Big Data tools.
2. Develop software to evaluate novel data mining and analytics techniques.
3. Participate in the establishment of future research directions and contribute to group grant proposals.
4. Document research by publishing papers in high-quality journal and conferences.
5. Collaborate with research group members on research projects
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
1. PhD in Computer Science or a related field on a research topic in the field of Big Data Mining and data analytics.
2. Excellent programming skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research and to develop implementations to evaluate the results.
4. Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with the research team, write scientific reports and papers, and deliver scientific presentations.

COMPETENCIES
1. Experience in building Big Data applications and systems.
2. Experience with Big Data platforms and data science tools.
3. Excellent communication, design and analytical skills.
4. Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
