Our client, located in Peoria, IL, is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer. The position requires hands-on solid experience in manufacturing processes with emphasis on steel, heat treatment, and machining. The candidate must be able to understand the processes and results of heat treating equipment for: 1. Gas-carburizing and hardening 2. Quenching and tempering 3. Vacuum furnaces 4. Induction hardening. A good understanding and knowledge of quenching, heating and cooling for hardening to guarantee mechanical properties of various iron and carbon alloy steels. The candidate must be familiar with various furnaces such as Pit Type, Chamber Roller, Bell type, Vacuum, Pusher, and Rotary hearth, and belt furnaces for brazing. The candidate must also be able to analyze and interpret of microstructures of steel and cast-iron in as received and heat treated conditions.
