Summary
Barry University, D. Inez Andreas School of Business is currently
seeking an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics. The professor
will teach courses in the area of Economics or Finance and Economics. The
position requires that the professor educate students in the basic
principles of Economics and/or Finance and assist them in developing their
ability to apply and extend these principles, while improving and enhancing
students` communication and critical thinking skills. In addition, the should
embrace the University’s four core commitments of Knowledge & Truth,
Inclusive Community, Social Justice, and Collaborative Service.
The D. Inez Andreas School of Business (ASB) offers
bachelors and master’s degree programs in various areas of business. The School
emphasizes developing ethical business leaders who are socially responsible,
have an entrepreneurial attitude, and a global perspective. The programs are
accredited by AACSB-International, which speaks to the quality of the School,
its faculty, and its programs.
Essential Functions
- Teach
courses at undergraduate and/or graduate level in Economics and/or
Finance and have a strong dedication to teaching excellence and
continuous improvement.
- A
record of scholarly research and involvement in professional/community
relations is expected.
- The
willingness and ability to teach online courses as needed.
- All
full-time faculty members are required to maintain a schedule of at least
five hours of office hours per week, distributed in a way that ensures
student access to their faculty and allows them to make convenient appointments.
- Submission
of syllabi, mid-term grades and final grades in keeping with
University/School deadlines is required.
- Attend
all faculty meetings and one graduation ceremony per year, as well as
service on School or university committees, is required.
- Participate
in all assurance of learning activities (learning outcome assessments) as
required.
- Fulfill
all responsibilities of faculty members as described in the Faculty
Manual.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Doctoral
degree in Economics or Finance with graduate course work in Economics
from an AACSB accredited institution is preferred. PhD candidates who
have begun their dissertation are also encouraged to apply.
- A
recent curriculum vitae is required.
- Official
transcripts and two letters of recommendations required prior to hire.
