Positon Overview:

The Metallurgy Engineer will be responsible for leading/facilitating special processing and metallurgical issues, both internally and with external suppliers. Will also implement established and new procedures to facilitate the execution of successful Metallurgical Engineering principles.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of new product development or revisions to existing products to meet market needs, profitability goals, reliability requirements and manufacturing capability in accordance with standard development practices.

  • Initiate new project plans, which include the scheduled actions and the resources required to meet the project objectives. Execute projects according to the established plan.

  • Maintain professional development through training opportunities in the field of his/her expertise.

  • Continuous awareness of emerging Metallurgical technologies to keep abreast of industry trends. Works with management to recommend opportunities for technology advancement.

  • Prepare and perform testing on micro specimens with various testing equipment to support Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Service.

  • Measure and analyze test results, and determine potential treat processes as needed.

  • Conduct inspections.

  • Operate and maintain lab testing equipment.

Desired Skills and Experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Material Science from an accredited institution.

  • Internship or co-op experience in the Engineering or Material Science fields.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • No relocation assistance is being provided. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Eden Prairie, MN will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year Metallurgy Engineering experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the effect of processing on microstructures and material properties of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including understanding an iron-carbon phase diagram.

  • Technical writing experience.

Position Criteria:

  • Willing to travel 10% of the time.
