Job Description:
Assist with general clinical patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice as defined by New York State law, under the direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or physician.
Obtain vital signs, review of allergies, medication, medical/surgical/family/ social history and pertinent health status information. Assist the provider with clinical procedures. Perform laboratory responsibilities under the direction of the Medical Director and Nurse Manager, including specimen collection and processing, routine quality control testing, performance of CLIA-waived testing and documentation of results into EMR.
The Medical Assistant role is a 12-month position and will report to the Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a certified Medical Office Assistant program.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Medical Office Assistant.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred. CPR certification required.
