DESCRIPTION
The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications is seeking a creative and motivated communications professional to join the team in its Office of Strategic Communications, focusing specifically on: social media; multimedia storytelling, podcasts and editing; and sharing the story of the people and programs of the Bellisario College through a variety of activities and special events. The Strategic Communications Coordinator works with other members of the strategic communications team and interacts regularly with both internal and external audiences — a mix of faculty, staff, students, prospective students, alumni and benefactors. Along with managing the Bellisario College’s social media channels, with a goal of growing audiences and enhancing engagement, the Strategic Communications Coordinator’s duties include coordination and support of communications-related details for everything from recruiting prospective students to promoting visits by award-winning visitors. The Office of Strategic Communications handles a variety of day-to-day responsibilities supporting the academic mission of the Bellisario College, manages content the Bellisario College website, produces an alumni magazine twice a year, produces an Annual Report and coordinates two national awards programs. Ultimately, the position exists to enact and support the Bellisario College’s strategic communications mission to promote the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications as the premier destination for students who aspire to careers in media and communications; as the home of world-class teachers, scholars and thought leaders for the professions; and as a program with innovative, high-quality programs that deserve philanthropic support. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and verbal communications skills are a must, as is proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud. The successful candidate would be detail- and deadline-oriented with an ability work collaboratively as well as independently. Experience in social media marketing, analytics, and content marketing is highly desirable. A familiarity with the Bellisario College would be helpful. The position would require some evening or weekend work, which would happen with ample prior notice.
