The Department of Information Technology at American University of Sharjah seeks an Application Analyst to manage and support Ellucian Banner ERP Environment, develop and maintain in-house business applications that extend the current Banner ERP Environment based on user requirements and manage third party solutions implemented at AUS as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Gather business requirements and create functional designs with development team to enhance functionality of the ERP application and/or reports.
2. Work with development team in transforming existing in-house administrative forms that uses oracle forms technology to Java Script and HTML5 and PLSQL web applications to Groovy and Grails.
3. Develop operating report, drill-down dashboards and analytics from different data source.
4. Manage ERP and other business applications under MIS as assigned.
5. Ensure business applications and database environment operated in accordance with established security and support best practices.
6. Manage the ongoing operational and functional support for the designated business applications.
7. Facilitate sharing of common data between database and other third party products required for integration.
8. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems with business applications that include application, database and server problems.
9. Research and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate hardware / software resources that may help improve efficiency and effectiveness of technology.
10. Prepare technical documentation, user manuals and develop formal proposals for new systems and modifications to existing systems.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
2. Java certified professional.
3. Five or more years of experience in system development life cycle, ERP support and managing team of developers.
4. Server-side Java technology such as Servlets, Java Server Pages or Grails
5. Object oriented design and programming in Java using Java8
6. Solid understanding of MVC architecture and familiarity with any Java based web application development framework
7. Experience with database systems such as Oracle and SQL and any Java persistence framework
8. Experience in several of the following technologies: Java, Groovy, Grails, Spring, Hibernate, jQuery, JSP, JavaScript, AJAX, HTML5, CSS3, JSON, BackboneJS, AngularJS
9. Experience with Responsive Design
10. Experience with Oracle Forms and Reports Development
11. High level of proficiency in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) , relational databases preferably Oracle, SQL & PLSQL scripting
12. Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux & Windows.
13. Experience with Oracle Application Server.
14. Experience with web servers like Apache Tomcat and IIS.
15. Experience with GIT/subversion version control system.
16. Ability to manage and prioritize workload in order to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
17. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
18. Good problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service skills.
19. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
2. IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 Foundations.
3. Knowledge and experience with Ellucian products in higher education.
