Are you a Software Developer with commercial experience using Java (or C#, Python and Ruby), interested in applying your skill set to make a difference in scientific research? Then this opportunity could interest you. A fantastic new position has become available for with one of my clients – a Genomics company located in Cambridge. They’re looking for experienced Software Developers to join their team to design and create software that enables the service delivery of globally scientific research.
Main responsibilities as a Software Developer include:
-Building enterprise technical solutions with virtualisation, web services and message bus technologies (Rabbit MQ, VMWare, etc.)
-Building robust and user-friendly software, improving accuracy and efficiency
-Working within a team of Senior and Junior Developers coding in Java, Javascript, Ruby, Python, SQL and noSQL technologies
-Producing high-quality software in a timely manner, providing integrated solutions and discussing impact of new features
The ideal Senior Developer should be/have:
-Degree in Computing & IT or equivalent experience (ability to craft maintainable software systems)
-Profound knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: C#, Java, Python or Ruby (must be able to select the right language for a task)
-At least 1 years’ experience developing multi-user concurrent systems in e.g. Rails, J2EE, Spring, JSP, etc.
-At least 1 years’ experience using modern software development tools, practice test-driven development (e.g. using Git, Jenkins Cl, Mockito, etc.)
-Experience with relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Mongodb) working in an Agile environment
