Primary Responsibilities
- Assists production with the firstand subsequentbuilds of new systems or revisions to existing systems.
- Assists with proto type designs ensuring they are ready prior to going into production.
- Provides point of use routing and the assembly sequence for all components through the subassembly andassembly line.
- Prepares proposed design changes or revisions to correct the current design.
- Continually identifies, suggests and implements cost reduction projects to reduce the overall cost of thebuild.
- Assists with audits that measure the bill of material and routing accuracies; identifying root cause of inaccuracies.
- Reviews tooling and fixture needs to improve the assembly process.
- Researches the latest technology and manufacturing practicesor identifies improvements to current technology/practices/processesand introduces these into production.
- Attends Kaizen events where a cross functional team will review given areas and make marked improvements in process.
- Where possible, becomes the subject matter expert (SME) for a given system (engine/transmission, electrical, air delivery, etc.) and provides assistance on such system to other MEs on the team.
- Prepares documentation for production as needed to ensurebuilds matchdesign and customer requirements (procedures, work instructions, visual aids, etc.)
- Provides engineering support to identify and/or implement solutions in production to address issues identified in quality inspections/audits or in the field by customers/service.
RequiredSkills and Experience
- Accredited engineering degreeor acceptable equivalent of education and/or experience.
- English language fluency (read, write, speak and understand).
- Ability to read and understandengineering drawings and documentation (e.g.blue prints).
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Process Oriented.
- Good computer skills: typing, ability to use of Microsoft Office and Windows, etc.
- Analysis and problem solving, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage multiple simultaneous demands, while meeting deadlines.
Desired Skills and Experience
- AccreditedIndustrial Engineering degree, Manufacturing Engineering degree or other accredited engineering degreesuch as Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree.
- Two to five years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.Manufacturing engineering experiencein transportation, automotive, farm equipment or aerospace/aviation industry is aplus.
- Familiarity/experience in a LEAN, JIT environment.
- Training on or experience withAutocad andUnigraphicsisaplus.
