Introduction and Background

The BFS Financial Management and Analysis team are looking for a highly motivated finance analyst to join BFS Operations. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an ambitious individual tojoin the team. In this role you will deliver quality financial data and analysis to finance teams and the business. You willsupport the delivery of month end reporting, financial analysis and planning and forecasting activities to key internal business units. You will also support monthly operational processes and perform controls over key balance sheet reconciliations and the production of associated accounting.

Key Responsibilities

· Preparation of draft month end position (early results), analysing and commenting on any variance to plan and exceptions in the month.

· Presentation of draft month end position to aligned Business Partner, demonstrating a clear and insightful account of what is contributing to the month end result.

· Assist aligned Business Partner with ad hoc request for information and analysis.

· Involvement in regular meetings with cost centre managers to gain an understanding of what is driving cost in the area and any current business issues.

· Assist cost centre managers with any ad hoc request for information on their cost base (direct and recharge).

· Demonstrate an understanding of the aligned business (purpose, strategy, current issues) in order to fully analyse the impact of the reported numbers.

· Work alongside aligned Business Partner to deliver annual budget and forecasts for aligned area. This could include direct and indirect costs, recharges and capital budgeting

· Consider impact of any organisational design changes and reflect impact on budget

· Preparation and posting of correct accrual and prepayment journals at month end, providing appropriate backup and demonstrating an understanding of impact- remit includes direct expenses, recharges and income where relevant.

· Support the on-going delivery of robust, effective and efficient operational, finance processes and controls

· Work with key customers across BFS to ensure that effective relationships are maintained

· Develop a good understanding and working knowledge of the underlying source systems, accounting for the transactions recorded on the systems and in the ledgers

· Control and manage the Fixed Asset and Intangible Assets processes,providing control and assurance over the balance sheet.

· Role may involve rotation between FSSC Operations teams to support demand during peak times

· Perform manual accounting processes accurately and input journals to Oracle general ledger.

· Improvements in procedures identified and implemented in order to create efficiencies, add shareholder value and meet external reporting requirements.

· Control gaps identified and solutions raised and implemented to provide assurance over financial processes

· Liaise with auditors and answer audit queries.

· Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and processes and maintain evidence/audit trail as required.

Qualifications

Key Skills Required

Essential:

· Educated to Higher level (or equivalent), preferably including a numerate subject such as Mathematics or Accounting

· The job holder must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.

· Strong knowledge of financial systems and controls

· Ability to demonstrate analytical skills.

· Strong communicator with the ability to build excellent working relationships.

· Good level of accounting knowledge and experience

· Experience of working in a Financial Services environment, in particular working with business related accounting systems.

· Excellent PC skills, with proven experience in Microsoft Office packages.

· Ability to produce quality output within demanding deadlines, whilst adapting to changing external requirements

· Knowledge and experience of working in an IFRS and regulatory reporting environment

Desired:
