Job Summary

S&C Electric Company is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago based company designs and manufactures switching and protection products for electric power transmission and distribution. Among those products are Automation Controls and Automated Switching Controls. The job of the Electrical Engineer will be to help develop electronic products and assemblies. Team member will perform a variety of tasks involving analysis, development, testing and production implementation of components and assemblies. Team member must be able to perform duties requiring creativity, judgment and initiative with supervision by senior engineers and project managers. This position reports to the Manager-Product Engineering.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in confirming component and system capability through feasibility study, analysis and testing.
  • Help assure that methods and results comply with company and industry standards, specifications and procedures.
  • Help develop test methods and product specifications.
  • Interpret, analyze and summarize data, identify trends, prepare reports and formulate conclusions.
  • Investigate product performance issues, develop, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Investigate product field issues related to Returned Material Authorizations (RMA’s), Write detailed reports with root cause analysis, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Maintain product data and continuity in design team by documenting and communicating pertinent information about components, tests, analytical data, actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Participate in planning to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Effectively communicate to clearly present ideas in a variety of forums.
  • Utilize sound problem-solving skills.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience and creativity in solving electrical and mechanical problems by application of engineering principles.
  • Experience working as part of an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of product test methodologies.
