This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After you apply to this position you will receive an email to complete the Phase 1 Online Assessment. Job Role Summary
An Electrical Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical systems at the Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant. Job encompasses:
- The safe troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of these systems including but not limited to: motors, transformers, switchgear, motor starters, lighting, relays, Programmable Logic Controllers, battery systems and chargers, distribution wiring, UPS Systems, and other similar equipment.
- This position is located at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- The position DOES NOT include personal travel expense reimbursement or relocation
Job Role Responsibilities
- Dismantles/Troubleshoots electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts.
- Installs and maintains various types of motors, motor control systems, motored operated valves, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
- Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacements.
- Performs electrical switching to energize and de-energize power distribution systems.
- Interprets construction drawings, Electrical One line drawings, and Electrical Schematics.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, repairs, and adjusts electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit.
- Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
- Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electric controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controls.
- Performs preventive maintenance on High Voltage Substations, High Voltage Transformers, Breakers, and distribution panels.
- Interface with Process Operators for coordination associated with routine maintenance activities.
- Manage maintenance resources by using equipment and materials in an efficient as-needed manner.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following site procedures and policies.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years industrial electrical maintenance experience (not including new construction/installation)
- Working knowledge of electrical equipment and electrical safe work practices
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical one-lines, schematics and control diagrams
- Willing and able to perform work at elevations of 50ft or more above grade
- Available to work after hours repairs, including occasional shiftwork during extending plant downtimes
- Computer competency (Microsoft Office)
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician’s License, OSHA Certified to work on high voltage.
- Ability to safely isolate electrical equipment, defects in wiring, switches, motors, motor control centers, breakers and transformers through Lock Out, Tag Out.
- Ability to safely install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
- Knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of electronic and electrical test instruments.
- Ability to read commercial and industrial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
- Ability to properly install and maintain motors, motor operated valves, welding equipment, lighting
- Ability to recognize and mitigate potential safety hazards for all employees
