Responsibilities:
The mission of the Office of
University Advancement is to create a donor-centric environment that encourages
and supports philanthropic investment by alumni, parents and friends to advance
the mission and goals of Northeastern University.
Based in Boston and reporting to the Director, Family Philanthropy Team, and
working closely with the International Advancement Office, the Senior Officer,
Global Student Relations, is a critical member of the University Advancement
team and will maintain close relationships with constituents from students to
senior Advancement leadership. They will promote the effectiveness of, and
cooperation among, University Advancement, the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions, and appropriate college, student affairs, and academic units, to
promote student engagement and advancement.
Alumni, parents, and friends play an important role in maintaining the
university’s academic excellence by referring talented individuals. The Senior
Officer will administer the referral program, providing in-depth data
management, programming campus visits, and serving as the primary contact to
referring parties throughout the enrollment process. They are key in accurately
and positively introducing the university’s vibrant and exciting educational
opportunities to candidates and their families.
The Senior Officer will cultivate relationships with students in support of advancement strategies. They will identify opportunities and create programming to increase student involvement with, and in support of, Northeastern for individual students and cohorts of students.
They will leverage their knowledge and experience in student affairs, academic advising, alumni relations, and/or relationship or volunteer management to advise and collaborate with colleagues throughout the university on matters related to student support and engagement. In addition to maintaining close relationships with students, the Senior Officer will partner with academic units and student affairs units to assure a positive student experience.
The Senior Officer will work with domestic and international students. The position requires strong data management skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to listen, a service oriented attitude, and a strong work ethic. Knowledge of advancement and/or global experiences are a plus. The individual must be self-motivated and detail oriented, able to manage workload independently and manage ongoing projects at the same time. Challenges include juggling multiple responsibilities in a very busy environment as work involves creative and strategic thinking, collaboration, and utmost integrity. Travel is not a requirement of this position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Five to seven (5-7) years of relevant experience in higher education; Strong data management, presentation, process management, organization, short-term and long-range planning, communication, analytic, interpersonal, and student development skills, and the ability to supervise and set priorities are required. A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic and is highly attentive to detail, who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and is sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies required.
