DESCRIPTION
Penn State Hazleton is seeking peer mentors for The Lions of Fusion Territory (LOFT), our space dedicated to social justice, inclusion, diversity, and equity, for the 2019-2020 academic year. The LOFT Mentors (LMs) are paid student employees responsible for providing peer support, mentorship, and education. The LMs will work to staff The LOFT space, making it available to students and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment. The LMs will also promote social justice, inclusion, diversity, and equity by expanding programs beyond the physical space of The LOFT, through passive means, such as bulletin boards, print media, and social media and through activities throughout campus. The LMs will familiarize students with programs and services available to them, emphasizing those that support traditionally marginalized populations. Further, LMs will be required to complete a background check, grade check, and student conduct record check. Applicants must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 and must be available to participate in mentor training prior to assuming the role.
