The Project Manager role requires a combination of Technical and Client Engagement skills. Individuals in this role must combine tactical execution skills with strategic expertise to lead cross-functional teams through pre-sales, kick off, and deployment. Project Managers are the client’s primary point of contact, so you must have strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical details into business terms.
The ideal Project manager is able to juggle multiple priorities, which include but are not limited to: project planning, risk management, internal/external communication, and oversight of the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand client requirements and prioritize them with cross-functional teams. We are looking for a Project Manager who is a clear communicator, incredibly organized and demonstrates strong passion for project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical teams consisting of software engineers and/or data scientists;
- Lead pre-sales meetings, discovery workshops, story boarding;
- Communicate project status including timeline, risks, delays, and the overall progress to select key stakeholders;
- Define and assess project risks, both technical and non-technical in nature and effectively deploy mitigation plans;
- Lead the scrum team in sprint planning and backlog grooming. Must have experience leading daily stand ups;
- Lead a project from start to finish, working with teammates from strategy, business analysis, development and quality assurance in a variety of projects;
- Act as a consultant to clients by understanding their expectations and requirements and effectively communicating across functional teams.
Must have requirements:
- Must have experience managing projects for external clients;
- MSc or BSc degree in Computer Science or a similar technical degree;
- Real experience of project management in technical projects;
- Must demonstrate clear and concise writing ability in different communication mediums (email, formal client-facing documents, etc...);
- Must have experience managing software engineers and/or data scientist (being on a delivery team a huge plus);
- Be able to control client expectations and push-back when necessary to ensure the success of the project;
- Willingness to travel (between 30% to 50%).
Nice to have requirements:
- Experience with the full SDLC on multiple fast-paced projects;
- Past experience as a Software Engineer is a big plus;
- Experience working on projects that move quickly that have ever-changing process and structure;
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, adaptability, problem solving, and critical thinking;
- Be solution oriented, and when issues arise, be able to roll up sleeves and tackle them with a ‘get it done’ attitude;
- The ability to cultivate relationships with clients;
- Experience with Scrum methodologies.
