Summary:

Under the direction of the Chair of English & Literature, the faculty member teaches four composition classes per semester through discussions, lectures, conferences, and other appropriate methods. Prepares instructional materials, such as syllabi, schedule of assignments, teaching activities, and grading rubrics. Upholds professional standards.

We have 5 openings: 1 renewable lecturer; 1 one-year only lecturer; 3 three year lecturers. Qualified candidates will be considered for both the renewable and fixed term positions.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned master’s degree in English or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university,
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching of English at the college/university level.
  • Online teaching experience and/or willingness to obtain online certification through UVU Office of Teaching and Learning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content of composition courses
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Ability to teach online classes effectively.
