The SCHOOL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (EEE) http://www.eee.ntu.edu.sg is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. A project officer is to work on project `Smart Wheelchair System for Airport Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM)’ for 6 months. The successful applicant is required to with the current project team in the following areas. Build a topological map of the airport for controlling the wheelchair in the absence of GPS. With the topological map, the wheelchair will estimate its location based on certain benchmarks around it. However, there are unavoidable estimation errors which could be accumulated. Thus research needs to be carried out to develop a suitable estimator for the wheelchair to minimize such errors. In addition, a group of wheel chairs should move cooperatively to follow the given routes smoothly.

Requirements
Bachelor Degree in the areas of Robotics, Computer Science, Image Processing;
Demonstrated technical knowledge and capabilities (in the form of publication records, especially in top tier international journals pertaining to Robotics, Computer Science, Image Processing. It is expected that research results established through the project are publishable in top journals.
