The American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, invites applications and nominations for the position ofDean, Hariri School of Nursing (HSON). Established in 1905, HSON is a leading nursing school in Lebanonand the region and is recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in education, research, and service.It is one of AUB’s seven faculties and schools, and houses two divisions – Undergraduate & Graduate Studiesthat consist of Master in Nursing and PhD in Nursing Studies. The HSON BSN and MSN programs are the firstoutside the US to receive unconditional accreditation in 2007 and reaccreditation in 2012 by the Commission onCollegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The school offers 4 tracks in the MSN program (Administration andManagement, Community and Public Health, Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, and PsychiatricMental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist). The school has launched recently a PhD program in Nursing Studies infall 2018-2019. Reporting to the provost, the dean is the responsible academic and executive head of the school and is a memberof AUB’s administrative team. The dean is responsible for setting the school strategic direction; ensuring ongoingsupport of high quality teaching and research; identifying and fostering areas of excellence; and strengthening tieswith other distinguished local, regional, and international academic and professional institutions.

Candidates must qualify for appointment to the rank of full professor in nursing and must have an extensiveexperience in research and administration responsibilities with leadership skills fulfilling the mission and visionof HSON. Candidates must have a distinguished record of accomplishment as scholars; capacity to advance theschool’s academic mission and interests within and outside the university; a demonstrated commitment torecruiting and retaining high quality faculty and students; and the capacity to engage with multiple constituenciesincluding students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
