About the Opportunity

As the Accountant at Ravenhall Correctional Centre you will be an integral member of a work group responsible for attending to the Centres financial and accounting functions in accordance with corporate and Australian Accounting Standard requirements.

You will primarily be responsible for:

  • Monitoring the input of data on Infinium Accounting Software relating to general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inmate trust accounts.
  • Monitoring the preparation, recording, and balancing of payments and receipts through electronic cash books and their balancing accounts.
  • Preparing and processing monthly journal reports.
  • Preparing and managing accounts and reports monthly.
  • Reconciling Balance Sheet ledger accounts, ledger cleaning, and resolving any outstanding items.
  • Preparing and submitting BAS.
  • Coordinating and maintaining the asset register, including depreciation calculation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual Financial Statements.
  • Demonstrating support for Accounts Payable, Receivable, and Payroll functions.
  • Assuming responsibilities for daily supervision of the Finance and Accounts Section, including Inmate Trust and Canteen.

Your Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role you will possess the following:

  • CA/CPA qualification, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Accountant.
  • Demonstrated workable knowledge of Australian Standards of Accounting and accounting practices.
  • Full working knowledge of Excel and experience with a database accounting software package.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply policies and procedures using a database accounting software package.
  • Ability to research, analyse and document matters relating to the administrative and financial functions.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines as prescribed by management.
