Summary Of Functions

JOB DESCRIPTION

Directing/Technical Directing live weather segments, newscasts

and news briefs, working closely with weather talent, and producers in creating

all necessary elements for live and taped programming for linear and non-linear

platforms, and creating any special elements or opens being requested by the

editorial team. Operates automated control room environment. Runs studio cameras, audio board and is back up on

graphics, helps in creation of maps. Serve as editor on special production assignments,.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Direct/Technical Direct daily programming, primarily focused on weather content
  • Work closely with editorial team in creation of graphics, opens
  • Create special opens for special projects and sweeps
  • Oversee completion and distribution of news elements
  • Perform quality checks and input of all programming elements
  • Archive and input commercials into production/master control database
  • Work closely with sales/promotions/public affairs on special elements for programs
  • Must maintain a good driving record

Organizational Relationships

Must be able to work well under pressure and be able to deliver quick decisions to crew

members.Should serve as leader during assignments, must have strong communication skills, understand skills as a

supervisor and interact very well with all staff members and guests.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of specialized training in the professional field required.

Experience And Skills Requirements

  • Must have minimum of 2 years major market or 3 years small

    market in similar capacity of job responsibilities.

    Must have good English writing skills, basic computer skills and good TV production knowledge.
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders and have a good driving record.
  • Must have knowledge of operating all production control equipment: switcher , Non-linear editing, DVE, Character Generator, audio board field camera and studio camera with knowledge of basic lighting for both studio and field.
  • Operates automated control room environment

    Must have a good eye for color and graphics.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and coordinate trafficking of commercial dubbing for master control operations.

Language Requirements

  • Must have Intermediate oral Spanish skills and Basic writing Spanish skills. Must have Intermediate English language skills, both written and oral.

Physical Requirements

Must have good vision and hearing acuity. Must have clear and audible voice. Must be able to lift approximately 25 lbs and

carry objects. Physical exertion includes climbing, kneeling, crawling, bending and walking. Must be able to reach above head. Manual dexterity in use of keyboard , audio

board and studio camera required.

Cognitive Requirements

Requires a good level of analytical, conceptual, planning, problem-solving, decision-making skills.

Must be able to read Spanish/English.

Equipment Used

PC computer, Apple computer, switcher, editor, DVE, audio board, studio camera, videotape machines (DVC Pro, Beta, DVD, VHS), newsroom

cameras (robotic), Teleprompter, headsets, microphones (lavalier, studio booth, handheld).
