MMG’s Group Project Delivery team is tasked with supporting the business with Project Management discipline and the delivery of major capital production and site-based capital projects, from the scoping phase through to end of the Execution and Commissioning Phase. MMG’s Kinsevere is a world-class copper mine located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that produced over 80,000 tonnes of copper cathode in 2016, while continuing to drive efficiencies and produce well above plant nameplate. One of our key goals at Kinsevere is to identify and foster the talents of national staff and develop them to ultimately succeed our expatriate technical roles. The Group Project Delivery team is now seeking an experienced Project/Portfolio Manager to join their team in Kinsevere on a FIFO basis 6/3 week roster).
Reporting to Group Manager Site Projects, the main purpose of this role is to manage the assigned capital projects portfolio in accordance with the investment and other MMG Standards to deliver the agreed customer objectives and provide engineering expertise and support to site. Specifically you will ensure compliance to the group/site engineering standards for all phases of allocated projects and identify opportunities across Kinsevere for plant and equipment upgrades to reduce operating and maintenance costs and increase reliability. You will participate in the Post Investment Review process as well as monitor and report on scope, cost, schedule and quality of project portfolio including monitoring any potential threats to the business case.
To be considered for this role, you’ll be a tertiary qualified professional engineer and have considerable experience in a similar role. A strong relationship builder, you place a great deal of value on the importance of establishing strong communication channels with your stakeholders and are able to use your deep functional expertise to engage, communicate and influence effectively across both site and corporate environments. You will have extensive experience in project delivery, project evaluation, project ranking and portfolio management in the mining industry or processing plant facilities. Experience working in a diverse cultural environment where English is their second language, particularly in Africa is desirable.
