Basic
Functions:
The Research Assistant will assist the Advising Unit (Office of the Dean,
Faculty of Arts and Sciences) in developing an advising tool by using
artificial intelligence techniques.
Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will be expected to:
· Conduct an AUB-wide survey which takes into account the intricacies of each department at AUB regarding courses and cut-off grades that affect students’ performance with regards to probation, dismissal, or joining a major.
· Develop the front end for a web application that allows advisors and students officers to receive early alerts regarding students’ performance with regards to probation, dismissal, or joining a major.
· Develop the back end for data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive analytics, to yield timely alerts with regards to probation, dismissal, or joining a major.
Eligibility
and Qualifications:
· BS or MS degree in computer science or computer engineering with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the case of a BS.
· Experience in web and mobile app development and machine learning.
· Experience in basic data manipulation.
· Good organizational skills.
· Proficiency in English.
· Duration of contract: one year.
