The Department of Engineering (ENG) of Aarhus University (AU) is looking for several innovative and visionary Professors to push the frontiers of Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE) research. This international top-100 University has made an ambitious strategic investment in a 5-year recruitment plan to place the University in direct competition with the global engineering elite. Therefore, the University is seeking top researchers driven with vision, innovations, or technologies for the future, to join and expand this ambitious engineering build-up.

Positions are available within all relevant disciplines of civil engineering and architectural engineering, including but not limited to: Innovative Structural Design, Building Design and Materials, Building Design Technology and Manufacturing, Architectural Acoustics, Lighting Design, Structural Engineering and Materials, Computational Methods, Structural Dynamics, Risk Assessment, Building Services & Technology, and Environmental Engineering.

Preference will be given to applicants that can demonstrate a strong and innovative research and teaching track record within traditional disciplines or within cross-disciplinary topics (e.g. bridging engineering topics to architecture and vice versa) that will lead to the establishment of new world-class research groups at AU. The positions will be anchored in the Department’s CAE section.

Successful candidates are expected to work closely with other researchers/groups within the section and Department as well as with external stakeholders. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team is essential. Successful candidates must also have a PhD in Civil or Architectural Engineering, or a related cross-disciplinary field. The candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. More specifically, the candidates are expected to:

◾Be able to drive the build-up of internationally competitive research activities, and/or contribute to strengthening the current research activities.
◾ Hold an exceptionally strong research profile demonstrating his/her international stature in the field.
◾ Have an internationally recognized research profile.
◾ Have significant teaching experience in the field on both MSc and PhD level.
◾ Actively contribute to the establishment of an externally funded research programme.
◾ Develop and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration within the Department, and between the Department and relevant national and international research communities as well as with industrial partners.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a distinguished publication record evidenced by appropriate bibliometric parameters in prestigious journals. A pre-existing strong international research network is required from successful candidates, along with experience in attracting new research funding.

Short-listing is used.
