Context And Purpose Of The Role

The firm is looking for an experienced, energetic and creative Senior BD Executive to assist in further establishing Pinsent Masons as a significant force in the UK's Yorkshire marketplace. The firm is highly respected in the region, acting for major private and public sector clients locally, nationally and internationally.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work with the Partners and Head of Leeds Office, in liaison with the HOL-UK and the wider BD team, to develop and implement the strategy for promoting Pinsent Masons in the Yorkshire legal and business market place.
  • Develop, analyse and monitor the supporting BD/marketing plan to underpin the strategy. Set up and chair regular meetings with the Head of Office and partner group to review the plans and agree future actions.
  • Draft, negotiate and manage the Leeds BD budget including monitoring expenditure against budget, analysing effectiveness and approving expenses allocated to the budget.
  • Identify and research relevant BD activity in the Yorkshire area for the Head of Office and partner group to consider, which fits with the strategy and Leeds BD budget objectives.
  • Local delivery of office-led multi-sector/practice and firm-wide events including planning through to implementation and post event review in conjunction with the Events team.
  • Work in conjunction with sector/group BD team to raise the regional profile of the firm's sectors and practice groups including advising on local delivery of sector/practice group BD objectives. Research and analyse local market intelligence to support group and sector activities.
  • Develop relationships between Leeds and other UK and international offices - identifying opportunities for co-working, information sharing and developing consistency and best practice.
  • Build relationships with regional media. Liaise with the firm’s in house PR team (and external agencies as appropriate) to maximise promotion of the firm’s activities, successes in the region and capabilities in line with the firm’s overall PR strategy and message. To include preparing press releases, drafting articles, arranging media interviews and sourcing press comment from lawyers.
  • Liaise with and manage the firm’s relationships with regional key business organisations, intermediaries and influencers. Seeking opportunities to maximise the impact of these relationships to enhance the firm's profile (e.g. hosting and speaking at events) and tracking other organisations of potential interest.
  • Support the BD Managers, Bids team and partners by providing local market intelligence to support the preparation of bids, where appropriate assisting on specific regional bids and creation of informal credentials statements.
  • Organise the Leeds network of managers assigned to KAP (Atlas) clients.
  • Management and production of locally orientated marketing collateral e.g. office updates and presentation material.
  • Identifying and submitting local content for the firm's internal news and online magazine as a member of the core team to ensure regional activity is showcased to the wider firm.
  • Ensure the office is informed of firm-wide BD initiatives and best practice.
  • Manage, review and maximise potential of the firm’s relationships with community, arts and sports organisations in relation to PR and client entertainment opportunities – in conjunction with the firm's Responsible Business team.
  • Working as part of the wider Locations team to share information, ideas and initiatives and learn from best practice across all locations including the consideration of national/international firm wide BD activities coordinated between all offices. Supporting the firm’s HOL-UK on firm-wide projects.
  • Regional support for legal directory submissions and planning interviews with researchers.
  • Working with the Events team on training and guidance for local Legal PAs on best practice for running group and sector events.
  • Liaising with the Facilities team and front of house team to assist in the management of the office to maximise the use and potential of the client facing facilities.

    Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Marketing qualification (CIM) preferred

  • Relevant Experience

  • Experience in a professional services environment.
  • Understanding the need to drive senior stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Knowledge of the regional business marketplace.
  • Experience in supporting a wide range of marketing initiatives including budget planning and monitoring, development and implementation of marketing plans, planning of hospitality events and seminars including marcomms and database aspects, management of sponsorship packages, collation of marketing intelligence, and PR.
    • Experience in building relationships with key media and industry organisations.
  • Experience of working in a team on a multi-site basis.
  • Experience of people management (desirable).
