Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Vice President, the on-site Project Manager is primarily responsible for the delivery and management of one or multiple Geotechnical projects. Project sizes may vary from $0.5 million to larger size projects in lump sum scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for all on-site project activities which may include reviewing, monitoring of sub-contractors, supervision, engineering, procurement and any other job related activities.
  • Accountable for resolution of any problems or inconsistencies which occur throughout the construction project. These may include procurement, tender processes, contract negotiations, scheduling, financial/budgeting, equipment, manpower, quality, safety standards and commissioning.
  • Supervises and coordinates various job site activities through collaboration with site Superintendents and site Project Coordinators.
  • Develop and maintain lasting relationships with owner, consultants & subcontractors
  • Prepares and reviews reports on progress, materials used, and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports in a lump sum environment.
  • Develops, maintains and ensure that effective methods of three-way communication are available to all project staff and Human Resources.
  • Ensure Aecon’s corporate health and safety program is adhered to along with project specific site regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure that companies Policies, Procedures, and work instructions are followed.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • A minimum of 8 years of construction experience in the Foundation industry with a good track record in secant pile walls and inner-city works
  • Experienced in managing projects ranging between $.5 million to $40 million plus.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in doing RFP’s, RFI’s, along with full execution of lump sum bidding requirements
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset or equivalent will be considered
  • A Geotechnical background would be considered an asset
