Job Description:

In collaboration with content experts, the Assistant Director of Health Analytics will lead the development and implementation of assessment strategies and initiatives to determine the impact of student focused health, wellness, and recreation programs and behavioral interventions in the Division of Enrollment and the Student Experience. The Assistant Director of Health Analytics is responsible for planning and implementing assessment projects (using accepted qualitative and quantitative methods) including analysis of data, identification of program needs and effectiveness, and tracking trends in student wellness and behavior. The Assistant Director of Health Analytics will work closely with content experts in primary healthcare, mental healthcare, health promotion and recreation services, as well as assessment colleagues, on methods, tools, data analysis and reporting (including annual reports, assessment plans, and strategic plans).

The Assistant Director of Health Analytics will ensure that assessment data is stored and accessed in line with Division and University requirements, and will assist with grant writing, research, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval processes, as needed. The assistant director will report to the Barnes Center Director of Operations.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree strongly preferred, combination of bachelor’s degree and experience required.

• Background in health-related areas preferred.

• Experience working with college-aged populations preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the design of research projects including, but not limited to, data collection, analysis, and presentation.

• Proficiency with data management/analysis software (SAS, SPSS, or comparable) and data management software (MS Access or Excel) is required; experience using Tableau helpful.

• Requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, ability to work well in a team setting and utilize new technologies.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work with staff and colleagues under pressure, responding quickly to changing needs and demands.

• Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methodology.

• Knowledge of strategic planning concepts, behavioral health and learning outcome assessment.

• Familiarity with educational assessment and online tools for data collection and handling.

• Must maintain a commanding understanding of Syracuse University research practices and policies and be knowledgeable about general student service activities
