The Faculty of Health Sc​iences (FHS) of the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Lancet-AUB Commission on Syria (LCS) currently seek a Research Assistant/Project Coordinator to work as part of the Secretariat team of the Global Alliance on War, Conflict and Health.
The Global Alliance on War, Conflict and Health ('the Alliance') is an international collaborative platform that will bring together academics, practitioners and advocates committed to preventing and mitigating the health effects of war and armed conflict. The vision of the Alliance is for a world without war, where health is protected, justice upheld and peace promoted.

The Alliance will be launched in the first half of 2020. The interim Secretariat is based at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.

The RA/Project Coordinator shall:
1. Perform general administrative and clerical work, including drafting memos, reports and official letters; assist with preparation of meeting documentation, and take minutes and notes for record
2. Assist with organizing virtual and face to face meetings and other events, including coordinating travel logistics
3. Keep accurate records of all project milestones and update them as needed
4. Assist with financial monitoring
5. Coordinate closely with the Alliance Management, Steering Group members and other stakeholders as required
6. Assist with communications and raising awareness of the Alliance and its workFor appropriately qualified candidates, provide research assistance to a range of projects and contribute to the development of a suite of materials for information dissemination
7. Perform others tasks as requested by the Steering Group Chair, Executive Director or other members of the Alliance management

The RA/Project Coordinator shall demonstrate the following:
1. Masters degree in public/global health, international relations, business administration or related field(s)
2. Minimum three years' experience in a project coordination role
3. Experience in preparing succinct meeting minutes and writing reports
4. Proficient with a suite of software packages, including the Microsoft Office products and project management software
5. Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English. Arabic speaker preferred but not essential.
6. Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
7. Strong team player
8. Must be able to regularly participate in global teleconferences outside of standard working hours
9. Willingness to travel internationally as required
