The Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the field of Aerospace Engineering, with an emphasis on space technology. Candidates must hold a doctorate in an appropriate field and are expected to establish an outstanding, funded research program as well as to contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate instruction. Applicants at the level of Assistant Professor are preferred but appointments at other levels will also be considered. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We seek an outstanding individual engaged in computational, theoretical, and/or experimental research in spacecraft engineering. The ideal candidate will conduct research in one or more of the following areas: spacecraft systems engineering, human spaceflight systems, propulsion, global navigation satellite systems (such as GPS), spacecraft structural dynamics and/or mechanics, and celestial mechanics. A key objective of this search is to build stronger connections between the field of Aerospace Engineering and the departments of Astronomy and Earth & Atmospheric Sciences. Another is to bring in faculty who complement, rather than duplicate, the department’s existing strengths. Qualified candidates in all related areas are encouraged to apply.
