Position Summary

This position operates and monitors gas boilers, steam turbines, combined cycle gas turbines, and auxiliary equipment such as fans, compressors, pumps, heaters, cooling towers, and water treatment equipment. Performs minor operational service tasks such as lubrication.

Working swing shift is required. Duties involve working in a noisy, hot, dusty environment; wearing a respirator while working with asbestos and chemicals; performing service work in confined areas; and walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, and climbing ladders. Work may involve wearing self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) during emergency conditions.

This position will engage in high performance, leading edge practices, which are innovative in their approach to increased stewardship and service excellence.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

  • Completion of a high school education.
  • Two years’ experience with steam production in either stationary or marine environments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Frequent lifting of 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
