FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Theatre Arts Coordinator is responsible for the program development, organization, and supervision of the Kroc Junior Theatre programs. The Theatre Arts Coordinator is also responsible for directing all Kroc Junior Theatre productions.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• College degree preferred. Degree in Theatre, Performing Arts, Education, or related field preferred.
• Have at least two years of experience in working in children’s theatre.
• Have at least one years of experience developing and administering budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED):

• By virtue of its direct contact with people who engage in Salvation Army programs, Christians with a demonstrated personal faith, agreement with the teaching of Scripture and understanding of Salvation Army doctrine are preferred for this position.
• Have successful experience in supervising and managing professional staff and volunteers.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish preferred.

SOFTWARE RELATED SKILLS:

• Previous experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
• Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• To know, explain and exemplify the mission, purpose, and values of the Kroc Center and the Salvation Army.
• Develop and implement a junior theatre program with the primary objective being to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Responsible for weekly rehearsal organization, scheduling, and implementation of child safety policies.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise independent contractor staff to work on each production/workshop.
• Have availability for a varied schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to: confidentiality, child safety, cash handling, liability waivers, records retention, reporting and statistics.
• Must be in good physical health and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the program. Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
