Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Develops and maintains detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes. Dispositions discrepant hardware. Provides suggestions to improve productivity. Provides day-to-day support to manufacturing personnel. Determines requirements for tools/fixtures.

Description

  • Maintain stable production processes and product quality, new process development, process optimization, continuous improvement, data collection and analysis.
  • Function as a member of the Integrated Product Teams
  • Participate in tooling design, fact finding, failure investigations, procedure preparation and review
  • Operations involved include tool preparation, hand lay-up, fiber-placement, filament winding, compression molding, RTM/VARTM, prepreg cutting, vacuum bagging, composite surface preparation, bonding, curing, autoclaving and the like.
  • Interface with all levels and departments of plant as well as operators, supervision, and maintenance personnel to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Materials, Chemical or similar Engineering discipline.
  • 2 or more years experience in a composite maunfacturing environment preferrably dealing with fiber-placement, filament winding, hand lay-up, and/ or VARTM proccesses.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with PC applications especially MS Office.

Training/experience in the following is beneficial and Strongly Desired

  • Lean/Six Sigma
  • Any of the aforementioned composite processes
  • Composites Design and Manufacturing
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, CATIA, or other design programs

Desired skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated capability for independent work and creativity
  • Training/experience in the following is beneficial:
