DESCRIPTION

The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State (Clearinghouse) is currently seeking candidates for a social science Research Technologist position that will assist with the development, implementation, dissemination, and maintenance of research projects and programs. The candidate will work under the direction of the project manager. The duties of this position include evidence-based research for program development, creating resources and materials for programs and projects, helping to support training events for program facilitators, using evidence-based strategies to improve program implementation and dissemination, and assisting in the dissemination and implementation of project or program information. The Clearinghouse is an applied research center, nationally recognized for its work that focuses on improving the health and well-being of military service members and their families. Our projects focus on topics such as parenting, building family resilience, preventing family violence, enhancing child and youth development, suicide prevention, obesity prevention, evaluation of mental health treatments for service members, veteran transitions from military to civilian life, and families at risk, among numerous others. Selection is dependent upon successful accomplishment of background clearances in accordance with Penn State Policy. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) or higher plus seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a social science field (e.g., social work, psychology, human development, or family studies). Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience developing or implementing programs. Knowledge of military culture and military families, or a military background are a plus. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills. This position requires developing high-quality research and collaborating with internal and external partners.
