Job Description:

The Director, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) is responsible for managing the university’s student conduct system, which adjudicates all non-academic student misconduct. The Director designs and delivers educational programs that promote good citizenship among students. The Director approaches student misconduct utilizing a philosophy of educating, protecting, and supporting the parties and all community members while providing clear consequences for inappropriate behavior. The Director collaborates closely with campus colleagues to insure that behavioral issues are addressed promptly and appropriately, specifically with the Department of Public Safety, Student Living, Student Assistance, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, the Office of Equal Opportunity, Inclusion and Resolution Services, and General Counsel. The Director serves on the Behavioral Coordinating Committee, the Threat Assessment and Management Team, and other divisional and university committees. The Director is responsible for updating the Code of Student Conduct and associated handbook regularly in collaboration with key stakeholders. The Director supervises a team of six full time staff members and graduate and undergraduate student workers. The Director oversees the University Conduct Board and the University Appeals Board.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree required.

• Minimum of 5 years post-Masters experience with Student Conduct, Residence Life, or related field.

Job Specific Qualifications:

• Strong leadership in the areas of strategic planning, forecasting, fiscal responsibility, and project management.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Working knowledge in areas of federal, state, and local law and regulation affecting higher education and student life.

• Experience managing Title IX cases.

• Successful experience working with law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, and licensed attorneys representing students being processed through the University Conduct System.

• Well-established track record of successfully handling high-profile student conduct cases.

• Sensitivity to institutional politics.

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task without compromising detail and quality of work output.

• Well versed in student development, management, and budget administration.

• Demonstrated ability to supervise professional, administrative, and student staff.

• Confirmed skills in problem solving, decision-making, collaboration, and ability to remain focused under pressure.

• Experience using Maxient software preferred.
