Position Summary
The Department of Family Medicine is seeking to fill an office assistant position to support department faculty and research and contract activities. The office assistant will support the Department Research Committee, including preparation of committee meeting agendas and notes; gather data on research and contract activities on request from Department leadership; attend research-related Department and College meetings; work closely with the Chair’s Executive Secretary to support the Department Grand Rapids-based operations; and schedule and arrange Department related seminars, meetings, and conferences on and off campus. This individual will provide support to research faculty and department leadership, including calendar management, travel arrangements, and assistance in purchasing related to research grants, contracts and other funds. This position is located in Grand Rapids at the Secchia Center. Frequent travel is required between the Grand Rapids and East Lansing campuses during normal business hours (travel expenses are reimbursed). Previous experience with research is a plus.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project work, spreadsheets, departmental operations, or in performing tasks related to a clinical department and/or healthcare system; experience in setting agendas, taking minutes, word processing, editing and composing correspondence, and maintaining calendars and project timelines, spreadsheets and/or databases; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
