Job Summary
This role will participate in the development and maintenance of manufacturing processes and perform independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering techniques which contribute to uniform processes at lowest possible cost consistent with quality requirements. The position participates directly in defining, analyzing, and solving complex manufacturing problems to the extent necessary to achieve optimum results as well as manages the total system which optimizes the efficiency and quality of CNC equipment, using current technology and tools.
Responsibilities
- Establish, document, and maintain process data and procedures as required ensuring manufacturing and assembly processing practices to minimize cost while maximizing quality and fitness for use.
- Manage the machine “programming system” for each machine tool, consisting of: part programs, tooling sheets, operational prints, machine offsets, and tool management in order to optimize the efficiency of the machine.
- Guide and instruct processors and programmers, providing technical support on tools, fixtures, machinery, and problem part processing.
- Manage the Quality System, including Customer Discrepancies, Non-conforming product, Internal PPAP process, and Corrective Action as required by the customer.
- Researches, recommends, and orders new technology equipment. Develops specifications with suppliers and guides the installation and training required to successfully begin manufacturing. Justify, select, and request manufacturing capital equipment based on the implementation of processes which provide Hydraulic Technologies with a technological advantage.
- Provide guidance to production supervision and coordinate with Design Engineering to solve production problems.
- Work under minimum supervision carrying out engineering assignments of a broad nature while exercising considerable judgment and originality.
- Review new product designs and recommend changes which optimize the manufacturability and assembly of the product.
- Develop and provide leadership in cost reduction strategies, increases in manufacturing efficiencies, and value analysis projects, which result in lower production costs.
- Specify and order special tools, fixtures, and manufacturing drawings. Work with Purchasing and vendors to optimize the quality and efficiency of our manufacturing process, while providing flexibility for future growth. Assist the tool room or operators in the manufacture of fixtures.
- Manage the complete tooling package used on the machine tool, including standard and special tools, with spreadsheets and databases. Work with tool vendors to continuously improve the cutting tools used.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing enviroment utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Must have an intimate understanding of machining, finishing, part handling, assembly, and test processes.
- Previous experience interfacing with both CAD and CAM software, and possess knowledge of tooling geometry and machinability.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
