Arrivo is looking for an experienced simulation engineer to help maximize the impact of their transportation system on the world. This position will be based at our Los Angeles, CA. Headquarters.

This role is similar to a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer at an aerospace firm, with the added challenges of simulating multi-modal traffic flows. Models and algorithms developed in simulation will drive hardware development and project planning, then pipeline into real-time hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight software.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain our simulation codebase. This includes all scopes of simulation, from individual components and subsystems to full intra- and inter-city models

• Develop and rigorously test control algorithms

• Verify and validate certain traffic simulations with empirical data

• Work closely with a broad range of technical groups, as well as business development, to study and optimize system performance

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years experience

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or Mathematics

• Proven ability to scale simulation software architecture from the concept phase to shipping

• Expertise in C/C++, Matlab, or Python

• Expertise in numerical methods

• Excellent communication skills, especially when interpreting complex systems or results for colleagues and customers

• Comfortable with the fast pace and rapid changes that go along with a dynamic startup company

The following are desirable:

• A Ph.D. in the fields listed above

• Experience with geospatial datasets (PostGRES, PostGIS, QGIS, Google Maps API, etc.)

• Experience in the transportation or urban planning industries

• Experience in multi-disciplinary optimization

• Experience in machine learning

• Experience in econometrics
