Manager, Software Development
This position is part of Fiserv’s Biller Solutions Business Unit supporting BillMatrix Next payment products/services. Candidate will be responsible for working directly with development, support, implementation, and other internal teams as well as external vendors and clients. The software development teams are composed of project owners, scrum masters, business analysts, tech leads, developers, and quality assurance analysts. The position may require occasional travel, up to 10%.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the full software development lifecycle required for a group of developers and testers in an agile environment.
- Managing relationships with internal and external partners during the implementation process to ensure that any issues requiring escalation or increased management attention are promptly addressed.
- Leading staff to implement clients in the most efficient, time driven manner. The manager is responsible for the total quality of the technical deliverables in their domain, making sure that they are secure, defect-free.
- Mentoring technical staff during projects to ensure continuous improvement. Includes working with each resource to define and act upon career paths and obtain appropriate training. Is responsible for the hiring, training, staff development, performance appraisals, corrective action and pay review of technical personnel.
- Coordinating with internal Fiserv groups including Development, Database Engineering, Project Management, Account Management, and Distributed Systems Operations and Network Engineering to identify and implement improvements to the client implementation process.
- Developing and establishing department standards and procedures. Recommends the most efficient ways to ensure best implementation practices of new upgraded products. Evaluates and reports progress and results.
- Providing support to Sales Support teams to assist in closing new or renewed business that maximizes Fiserv’s ability to implement.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 10 years of experience demonstrating required skills and competencies.
Job Related Experience:
- Requires 7 to 10 years of professional experience in an Information Technology role.
- Previous leadership or management experience required
Additional Skills/Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of Relational Database (MS SQL Server, Oracle), SSRS, HTML, XML, FTP, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of C#, .NET, MVC, T-SQL, APIs, PKI is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodology
- Experience working in the Financial Services industry is a strong plus.
- Experience with Fiserv products and services are a strong plus.
- Good understanding of troubleshooting methodology.
Travel Required:

- Strong communication skills are a requirement, as this position must build consensus with numerous internal and external resources and effectively influence technical direction of projects in order to be successful.
- Ability to determine the best implementation approach/methodology for assigned project(s) based on established guidelines and best practices and determines appropriate strategy for ensuring desired objectives.
- Must be very flexible with learning new technology quickly.
The Biller Solutions Division within Fiserv offers hosted technology solutions for consumer billing and payment to companies of all sizes and industries. Our solutions equip companies with the ability to offer their consumer base electronic paperless billing (e-bills) and electronic payments (one-time, card funded, recurring, registered, ACH funded, etc.) in channels including the company’s website, bank or financial institution websites, via the phone or through walk-in locations like Walmart. Our clients are varied and include small local water companies, medium sized regional electric utilities and large national auto lenders, credit card issuers and telco/wireless providers. We also operate a direct to consumer website called MyCheckFree.com.
