Position Summary
- Support use of JENSA and SECAR by NSCL
and FRIB users
- Initiate, develop, and implement
improvements and upgrades to the SECAR/JENSA system to enable nuclear
science experiments and achieve ultimate performance
- Operate SECAR/JENSA safely and reliably
with high availability
- Establish and document standard
operating procedures for SECAR and JENSA
- Contribute to the mentoring of early
career scientists, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral
research associates
- Contribute to scientific research with
SECAR/JENSA and the publication of scientific results
- Perform work in a safe manner
- Perform work according to quality
requirements
- Conceive, design, and create system
upgrades and development projects
- Establish policies, procedures, and
standards
- Manage and prioritize resources and
equipment allocation for projects and systems
Required Degree
Doctorate
Minimum Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in Physics,
Accelerator Physics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience with nuclear
science experiments using beams
- Ability to work with export controlled
technologies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ion beam transport or
~MeV/u scale low energy ion beam diagnostics
- Track record of successful initiation
and/or implementation of technical developments for nuclear science
experiments
- Track record of research in nuclear
science or accelerator physics
- Demonstrated ability to follow safety
and operating procedures
- Strong oral and written communication
skills
- Interest in nuclear astrophysics
