Assistant / Associate Professor of ArchitectureThe School of Architecture, Art and Design at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant/ Associate Professor of Architecture to begin teaching in Fall 2019.
The successful candidate will have:
A Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in architecture from a Western accredited institution at the time of appointment. Ability to work within a diverse student and faculty population.
Previous college level teaching experience and/or professional experience in Architecture.
Ability to teach both studio and lecture courses within a broad architecture curriculum.
Knowledge and capacity to teach BIM software for architects (e.g., Autodesk Revit).
Understanding of leadership, practice, legal responsibilities, integrated building practices, technical skills for architects, with anexpertise in some of the following
Professional Practice & Ethics
Life Safety & Codes
Construction Management and Building Economics
Building assemblies, structural systems, building envelope systems
MEP, Materials and Methods of Construction
Candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of
teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to meetstandards for personal professional scholarship, and assist in student advising, curriculum development and other serviceto the department, school, and community.
The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt
basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health / life insurance, professional memberships, conferenceattendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components
