Position Summary:

As a Sr. Deep Learning/AI Engineer in Illumina’s computational biology group you will focus on applying machine learning techniques or develop novel algorithms and analysis techniques for genomic applications.

Responsibilities

Preferred educational background & skills:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or related field
  • Experience with one or more programming languages including Java, Python, C++, R, or Go
  • Strong background in one or more of the following areas: data analysis, natural language processing, computer vision, distributed computing, big data analytics, and machine learning

Qualifications And Experience

  • Develop novel algorithms for genomics applications
  • Develop and apply machine learning/deep learning algorithms to various areas of interest, including variant interpretation, detecting machine anomalies, genomic data analysis, and phenotype-genotype associations
  • Develop and apply informatics-based big data techniques to develop new tests and assays
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with diverse groups within and outside of Illumina
  • Strong communication skills
