We are currently searching for aMaterials Engineerfor our Innovation Center in Schiller Park, IL. This position will play an integral role in identifying and pushing forward cutting-edge technologies and approaches that can support the future needs of elite athletes and their evolving personal preferences. The role will help innovate the next generation of game basketball and football technology by researching materials and new manufacturing processes to radically change existing product lines or production methods. This position will develop, identify, and modify new and existing formulations, technologies and platforms for improved performance and/or cost reduction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily:

 Build critical relationships and leverage expertise and capabilities from inside and outside Wilson to deliver results and create value

 Master product and technology knowledge for the field of application and uses this knowledge to advise and coach less experienced colleagues on experimental work

 Determine technology approach and conceive innovative routes in the material design, formulation and testing of materials. Employ sound experimental designs to effectively develop new materials.

 Develop and apply creative ideas for new enabling technologies and support intellectual property activities; provide guidance and recommendations on patents while contributing to the development of IP strategies for area of responsibility.

 Interact with external organizations (vendors, suppliers etc.) to explore new technologies for sporting goods applications.

 Leads introduction of new products from laboratory scale to manufacturing

 Effectively uses project management/milestone planning techniques to drive multiple concurrent new technology opportunities in line with Wilson’s internal stage/gate development process.

 Establishes new methods for evaluating products.

Experience and Skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 BS or MS in Material Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.

 5 to 10 years experience is product creation, analysis and testing.

 In-depth knowledge of the latest technologies in polymers, elastomers and thermoplastics.
