The Engineering Design, Manufacturing, and Management Systems Department (EDMMS) at Western Michigan University is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position with a start date of Spring 2018. The position is open to candidates as either an assistant or associate professor. All candidates are expected to be effective researchers, competent teachers, and perform service activities. By time of hire, candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or a closely-related engineering discipline. Candidates must also have experience in modern manufacturing operations and/or control, and be effective communicators. Relevant industrial experience is preferred.

Preference will be given to candidates with specific interests and experience supporting one or more of our B.S. degree programs: Engineering Design Technology, Engineering Management Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Additionally, it is anticipated that this individual will develop new coursework in his/her field of expertise.

The EDMMS Department offers three ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering technology bachelor’s degrees and one master’s degree. Currently, the department has 10 tenure-track faculty, 300 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate students. Additional information can be found on our web site at https://wmich.edu/edmms.

The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences has seven academic departments, with programs in engineering, engineering technology, and applied sciences. In Fall 2003, the College moved into a new $100 million facility located on a 270-acre engineering campus. This site includes a new engineering complex and a Business Technology and Research Park.
