UNT and TWU are two major institutions in the DFW Metroplex with long standing BSW programs that have joined forces and now offer a high quality JMSW program should be accredited by June 2020. The Department of Social Work is situated under the College of Health and Public Service (HPS), which contains allied health professions for faculty to engage in a vibrant collaborative intellectual milieu. UNT is located in the golden triangle of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, one of the fastest growing urban metropolitan areas in the country. The UNT music school contributes to the vibrancy and chic Denton culture. The DFW airport is just 25-30 minutes driving distance. The DFW area provides all the vibrancy of a diverse cultural life.

Position Summary

The University of North Texas (UNT), Department of Social Work invites application for a nine-month tenure track position at the assistant or associate professor rank, expected to begin early August 2020. UNT recently launched a Joint Masters of Social Work (JMSW) program in partnership with Texas Woman’s University (TWU), the first of its kind in Texas. The successful candidate for this position will have primary duties in the JMSW program. We seek candidates to provide creative, engaged instruction in graduate social work courses, pursue an active and collaborative research agenda, and contribute to the ongoing development and administration of the JMSW program. The successful candidate will be teaching in an advanced generalist curriculum across traditional and online/hybrid classrooms. There will be ample opportunity to shape the new JMSW program, add value to the existing curriculum and create lifelong learning opportunities for social work practice communities.
