Great, let me tell you about an opportunity with a tech business. They’ve been going for c. 20 years. And they’re really successful. They’ve grown to c. 200 staff worldwide, with international offices across Europe, the America’s, APAC and Australia.
Now they need you to come on board.
Their business has grown organically; word of mouth and referrals from the great work they’ve been doing. Until now they’ve not needed a big focus on their marketing, but ambitious plans mean that they are now looking to change this.
If I hadn’t made this clear, this is a brand-new role within the business.
You will be the communication link between their brand, their story, and the outside world.
You’ll take charge of all things marketing; think social, PR, events, proposals etc. A big push will be on events; what can they be attending, and what can they be creating.
It’s important to say that you will have £0 marketing budget on day 1. They want to hear your ideas, your analysis, your solutions and build the budget around what you need to do. If it makes sense, the bank account can handle it.
Why would you want to do this?
Yes, this is a big challenge. A very exciting, big challenge. This role is an open book. It’s a new role – you can take this in any direction that you want. They’ll also need a team, so over time you will get to grow and nurture this function.
They also want you to be the best you can be, so you’ll have a personal PDP coach and plan, with a limitless budget for training courses. Need to get up to speed with social? Fine, book the course and you’re set.
