A postdoctoral research project funded by the Smart Cities Research Institute (SCRI) at American University of Sharjah (AUS), Sharjah, UAE, is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to work on a project related to electric vehicles (EV) wireless charging systems. Successful applicants for the positions will largely work independently under the supervision of a faculty member and jointly with a highly motivated multidisciplinary team with sustained funding. The research area of these positions is generally related to the development of an EV charging system.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:

• PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or in other relevant disciplines.

• Experienced in the design and implementation of wireless power transfer systems.

• Experienced in embedded system programming, hardware-in-the-loop data acquisition systems.

• Experienced in power electronic converters.

• Have well-developed analytical skills as well as excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Be a self-starter and able to execute designated tasks accurately and within timing and budget constraints. Used to working in a team—adopts a collaborative and open working ethos and demonstrates the ability to perform critical reviews.

• Successful candidates are expected to conduct independent research with minimal supervision and high self-motivation, develop a prototype for the charging system, publish technical papers in international journals, and present their research work in international conferences.

Position Details:

The appointment duration will be for a two-year period. However, the initial appointment is on a one-year renewable contract with a possibility of annual renewal subject to satisfactory performance based on progress measured in terms of prototype development and publications. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will be provided.
