We currently seek a high caliber Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire position within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Gastonia, NC, you will be working for one of the area’s leading manufacturing organizations.
Description:Position requires a hands-on person who desires to become the company expert on existing and future manufacturing machinery. The position requires some domestic and international travel to other corporate locations as well as machinery suppliers.Requirements:- Manages all engineering aspects of machine projects and change parts;
- Manages and participates in existing machinery redesign, upgrade, retrofit and cost control and reduction;
- Manufacturing support (production, shop floor, purchasing, vendors) – works with these groups to implement cost reduction and increased manufacturing efficiency;
- Works closely with shop team leader to address and resolve manufacturing issues as they arise;
- Project support for existing machinery. Works with Project Managers on project/customer specific changes and requests;
- Works with service engineers to troubleshoot field issues;
- Works with vendors to apply latest technology;
- Participates in machine startup, debug, and on site installations;
- Up to 10% domestic travel;
- Creates and maintains BOMs;
- Develop, maintain, and improve engineering procedures, standards, and documentation;
- Other duties as required
Experience:- BSME or similar degree preferred;
- 7-10 years’ experience working with manufacturing machinery redesign, upgrade, retrofit and cost control and reduction;
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures;
- Proficient in utilization of CAD systems (Autocad, Solidworks, etc.);
- Project management experience from design to installation;
- Experience implementing and improving engineering procedures and standards
