Summary

The Department of Biology at Barry University seeks to fill a full-time position at the Assistant Professor rank. The position begins August 2019 or January 2020. The Biology Department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in General Biology, Marine Biology, and Pre-professional Biology.

Essential Functions

  • The responsibilities include teaching primarily undergraduate anatomy and physiology, as well as first-year and advanced biology courses (12 hours per semester of lectures/labs), scholarly activities, and academic advising.

  • The applicant is also expected to participate fully in department, college, and university-wide initiatives and activities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach effectively, to engage in productive scholarship, and to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Barry University emphasizes excellent teaching in a student-focused, undergraduate environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • The position requires a PhD in a biological science.

  • Excellent communication skills, evidence of mentoring undergraduate research, wide interest in biology are essential.
  • Experience with developing and teaching distance courses is welcomed.
