About the Job:

SPG high profile manufacturer of storage products has an immediate opening for a Engineering Manager. The primary function of this position is to manage the day to day activities of the engineering department at our Aurora, Colorado facility. The Engineering Manager will provide leadership and direction in terms of engineering standards and discipline, project prioritization and assignment, applications engineering, new product development, quality assurance, and exceeding customer expectations. The position reports into the Director of Engineering of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture of high performance and accountability in all aspects of the engineering department and company.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and responsibility for their assigned work.
  • Effectively manage bills of material, routers, and engineering drawing standards, to world class requirements.
  • Implement metrics to track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure that product quality exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Utilize best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support facility and channel objectives in collaboration with senior management.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and management in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and management.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Develop concepts and appropriate prototypes with appropriate drawings and bill of materials.
  • Work with Supply Chain to source suppliers for materials.
  • Complete design and quality plans per company internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and complete all engineering tests and performance studies.
  • Work with marketing to align data and instructions for use.
  • Develop and publish all final process documentation and specifications.
  • Ensure manufacturing success including cost and quality goals for existing products and when new products are released to build.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial
  • Minimum 7+ years of proven management experience
  • Working knowledge of either AutoCAD / SolidWorks / ProEngineer
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a strong background in continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems
  • Must be PC proficient including Microsoft, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and ability to work with customers in a positive manner
  • Strong Food Service industry and/or metal fabrication/engineering background desired
