Reports to: 
Assistant Security Supervisor, Office of the Security

Purpose: 
Provides security services to The American University in Cairo in order to reduce the opportunity for crime, assist the security department with information in crime investigation, assist the assistant security supervisor in responding to emergencies, do security and safety checks, takes corrective action to prevent or control the hazard and reports incidents and activities.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Work on shift rotations to monitor the alarm control panel
2. Report alarms to the security team leaders to respond to emergencies when on the shift of the alarm control panel
3. Follow up on the emergency response to make sure that the emergency reported is controlled and inactivate the alarm
4. Maintain closed doors of all offices and work areas after the working hours
5. Work closely with maintenance to report and follow up on corrective actions for incidents that require maintenance work such as and not limited to water leakage, opened doors, and others
6. Prevent thefts and report any security incidents
7. Prevent fights among students, and control fights and report them to the director for the necessary corrective actions
8. Respond to emergencies such as first aid and firefighting
9. Monitor and control demonstrations, strikes and disruptive activities on campus
10. Enforces AUC policies such as and not limited to smoking cessation
11. Keep a log of incidents
12. Provide a monthly report with all incidents with a summary of the corrective action
13. Assist in the security services covering events, parties, and public lectures
14. Assist in the security services covering AUC internal elections
15. The possibility of rotation between different security service locations and positions
16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:
1. At least high school education diploma “essential”
2. Training certificate for the use of the alarm control panel “preferable”
3. Training certificate in firefighting “preferable”
4. Training certificate in first aid “preferable”

Experience:
Two years of general experience in security

Skills:
1. English proficiency AUC level: Basic/oral (20-30)
2. Basic administrative skills
3. Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
4. Ability to follow established procedures and policies
5. High level of integrity
6. Independent judgment or initiative based on previous work situations
