The Department of Plant Pathology is seeking a 9-month Instructor. The successful candidate will teach PLPTH 500 Principles of Plant Pathology; co-teach courses, teach laboratories; support and curate materials for other departmental courses as part of the plant pathology undergraduate and graduate program and develop a course of their interest in plant pathology. The instructor will help to grow the teaching program by assisting with student recruitment for the undergraduate plant pathology minor and the department’s graduate programs; collaborating on educational outreach programs; and engaging in program-related student organizations. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in committees and other service activities within the department, college and university.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have: a Masters in plant pathology or a related field, with an ability to develop a strong teaching program in plant pathology. Excellent communication skills, with an ability and desire to teach undergraduate courses and mentor graduate teaching assistants. Demonstrated skills in organization, interpersonal communication, and managing teaching materials in the lab and greenhouse. Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity in the department is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching laboratories and lectures at an institution of higher education.

PhD in plant pathology or related field.

Demonstrated ability with teaching technologies.
